lyrics

Terry always bit the hand that fed her ever since she was a little kid
She always thought there was somethin' better in the other hand that was hid
Runnin' alongside that schoolbus, she'd say catch me if you can
Laughin' at all the rest of us and singin' as she ran

She'd sing angels always dance in a cosmic trance when Gabriel's trumpets blow
You can hear 'em in the howlin' wind of God's own radio

She hitched herself a ride to New York City on the day she turned 16
All she took was a Cheshire kitty and a brand new pair of jeans
She said Momma I'm a gonna light that town like a firecracker on the 4th of July
Whenever you hear that great big sound, just look up in the northeast sky

Because angels always dance in a cosmic trance when Gabriel's trumpets blow
You can hear 'em in the howlin' wind of God's own radio

And oh what a heavenly chorus when that band begins to play
Standin' right there before us, it could set the devil to pray

No one ever heard another heard from Terry the Texas Tornado
All concurred to build a statue of her on the streets of old Laredo
But the folks kept up hope out in Holyoke and Lubbock did the same
I always figured she'd gone for broke, hit the big time and changed her name

When I hear angels always dance in a cosmic trance when Gabriel's trumpets blow
You can hear 'em in the howlin' wind of God's own radio…
